Back in December 2021, Amazon Prime Spain was shut down after host Henar Alvarez attempted to lift her shirt while exclaiming, "Let's go for the ban!" While this occasion was more intentional on the platform's decision to ban the channel, AmazonMusicBR may have been caught up in a DMCA situation that did not get the benefit of being a whitelisted channel. It was an unfortunate end to Twitch's week, which included losing popular and controversial streamer Adin Ross to Kick, a competitor platform, after he received threats of losing his account forever.Īs surprising as the ban may be to most, this isn't the first time Twitch has banned one of its own company accounts. "They ran out of people to ban so they're banning their OWN business accounts," stated another user in a quote retweet, finding humor in the Amazon account getting caught up in a series of bans this month. "They really turned the friendly fire switch on huh," joked one of the hundreds of people who commented on the Twitch announcement, a post that has received over two thousand retweets and 13,000 likes.

While bans are quite common on the platform, many have criticized Twitch for their method of banning members, accusing the powers that be of holding bias and playing favorites. They wouldn't have to wait long before the channel was revived after a total of 15 minutes and 38 seconds, but little explanation was given as to why the mistake was made, leading onlookers to crack jokes about the situation. On February 11, regular users looking forward to checking out the popular Twitch channel were met with the black screen indicating that AmazonMusicBR was temporarily unavailable due to a violation of the platform's Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. The unfortunate slip-up left them unplugged from the platform for 15 minutes before the responsible party realized their mistake and promptly released them from the ban. In the same week that controversial streamer Sliker was delivered a permanent Twitch ban, AmazonMusicBR found itself offline for a brief period of time.ĪmazonMusicBR has a following of over 33,000 on Twitch, streaming a variety of different shows designed to introduce new music to the Brazilian audience in their native tongue of Portuguese.

Twitch has been busy as of late with handing out bans to major players on its platform, but many were left confused when AmazonMusicBR, the official Amazon Music channel in Brazil, was hit with a ban of its own.
